Virtual GPS

VirtualGPS simulates real GPS, and returns current position by getting information from mobile network.This software uses MCC, MNC, LAC, CID and other relevant information from mobile operator to find current location.

How to make this stuff properly work? or Tutorial for newbies :)

1. If you have smartphone it should be unlocked first. The easiest way to do this is to use SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip
2. Check an internet connection on your gadget.
3. Run VirtualGPS, wait less than 1 minute until GPS ONLINE (or OFFLINE in bad case) will be shown.
4. Hide the program by pressing 9, DO NOT close it.
5. Run navigation software. In the settings put GPS on COM6 (You can define any other free COM port in the config.ini, by default its COM6).
6. Enjoy!

Running Skype On HP IPAQ 514

There is two groups, one goes under \Storage Card\Program Files\Skype, the other goes to \Windows. I then created a .reg file to import with the details. The full setup steps are:

1. Copy the files to proper locations. The file can be downloaded at here

2. You will need a registry editor, PHM Registry Editor or I used Resco Explorer's Registry addon and imported the .reg file (application upload on the previous post)

3. Reboot the device.

4. Run the Skype using the link. On the long license agreement page, to click agree, I had to scroll all the way to the bottom. When the cursor was blinking at the last line, I clicked one more time the down button and hit the center button to click agree and continue. There is one more warning page, where you'll need to use the center button to continue. Then the rest is straightforward.

NOTE that Skype is a little bit large then HP IPAQ 514 so it does not fit exactly. Sorry but i cannot do anything about that! (Credits: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=177)

Opera Mini Bookmarks

Opera Mini is an excellent (possibly the best) browser for my Ipaq 514 however typing with keypad can be a little difficult especially when considering bookmark URLS like:

That is where My Opera comes in. Simply apply for your account here: http://my.opera.com/and via Opera Link (from the menu) you will be add you own bookmarks very easily from your computer and also the possiblity of Synchronizing them if you use Opera Browser.

Once added Opera Mini can synchronize the bookmarks from your Smartphone with your online account thus having all bookmarks that you added, loaded into you phone.

The software works very well on HP Ipaq 514 however if you do not start the one-access scanner make sure that you disable it from startup if you wish to avoid being asked on every startup if you wish to enable it.

I think this is the only 100% freeware antivirus that works on HP IPAQ 514.

Now,I already know thaat Pelcu posted an entry about this subject here, but I like this method better. I'll link to the needed software at the end of the post.

Transfer the secpolicies.cab file to your phone and install it.
Install the Security Configuration Manager (the MSI file) in your PC.
Open the Security Configuration Manager program and connect the phone. Give it a couple of seconds to load properly (look the bottom bar of the window, it says "Querying device configuration..."
On the Select Configuration Button, select "Security Off" and the Provision
Now, on the screen of your phone, click "Yes" or "Accept" when you're prompted to install a file called "Tools.cab"
Give it a couple of seconds, until a pop-up tells you that you're done.
And that was all. Easy, huh?
